After earning a BASc in Laboratory Technology, I began my career in a commercial pathogen testing laboratory. Later, I moved to Cawthron as a technician in the Envirotech group (now Molecular Algal Ecology), where I was involved in both research and commercial testing. My responsibilities included molecular testing, ecotoxicology, biosecurity bioassays, and chemical testing.
In early 2022, I joined the Te Wero-aro-anamata Aquatic Biosecurity team and have since contributed to numerous projects their. These have included testing various aquatic pathogens affecting shellfish and fish species such as oysters, mussels, and salmon. Additionally, I have continued to conduct ecotoxicological testing on organisms like blue mussel larvae, wedgeshell (Macomona), and algae.
Working at Te Wero-aro-anamata has sparked my enthusiasm for aquatic species, and I am eager to continue learning more in this field.
