Richard Ingebrigtsen
Research Scientist - Cawthron Institute
Algal biotechnology
Richard is an algal biotechnologist in the microalgae team. He is very enthusiastic about how algae can be used as start-feed or feed ingredients for aquaculture. In the ShARP platform he works on production methods and cultivation systems for microalgae and scaling up algae production. He also works on how to improve the quality of microalgae used for feed applications. He has more than a decade of experience working on different aspects of mass cultivation of microalgae in industrially relevant environments and at scale, including LED lighting solutions, waste stream utilization, harvesting techniques and large photobioreactor operations for both salmon feed ingredient production and biodiscovery
